 Julia and Jessica Surette started Brave Waves in the summer of 2011 as a high school summer passion project that has since grown into the region's most recognized swim school program. Our mission is to create swimmers for life and are capable in any kind of water for any kind of reason.

Jessica Surette, Co-Owner, is responsible for Operations, Swim Curriculum, Staff and Service Quality. "Swimmer's progress is directly tied to quality people delivering a quality program through quality service." Jessica is a St. John's College graduate, has her bachelor degree from McGill University, and is a former competitive swimmer. Outside of Brave Waves, Jessica is a world traveler and passionate advocate for environmental issues. Jessica is enrolled in the Masters Program of Environmental Management, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Julia Surette, Co-Owner, is responsible for Customer Satisfaction, Bookings, Communications and Day-to-Day Operations.  "The most important opinions are those of our swimmers and their parents - their satisfaction is why we're here and the success of our program."  Julia is a graduate of St. John's College, has her degree from McGill University, and is a former competitive swimmer and entrepreneur.  She is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music in London, UK, where she has earned her Masters Degree in Opera Performance.  

Nita Surette is the Brave Waves Mom and loves to teach.  A 30-year teaching professional, she has taught in Toronto, New York, Orange County California and here in Brantford.  She is passionate about delivering the best program and best value in swim instruction anywhere.  Since retiring from teaching, you can now find her on the Brave Waves deck!

Joining our leadership team every season are approximately 35 - 40 outstanding student leaders and instructors from the College, University and later high school levels. All have passed a rigorous screening and training process, and come with aquatic leadership certifications, advanced competitive swim experience, or both, plus excellent backgrounds in instruction.
