 Julia and Jessica Surette started Brave Waves in the summer of 2011 as a high school project that has since grown into the region's most recognized personalized swim school program.  Our belief is that the best results come from caring instruction in a challenging yet supportive environment, and that happy swimmers make successful swimmers - at any age! 

Jessica Surette, Co-Owner, is responsible for Operations, Swim Curriculum, Staff and Service Quality. "Swimmer's progress is directly tied to quality people delivering a quality program through quality service. We have the highest standards, a unique instruction program, and the best instructors in swim, period!"  Jessica is a St. John's College graduate, has her degree from McGill University, and is a former competitive swimmer. Outside of Brave Waves, Jessica is a world traveler and passionate advocate for environmental issues. Jessica is enrolled in the Masters Program of Environmental Management, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Julia Surette, Co-Owner, is responsible for Customer Satisfaction, Bookings, Communications and Day-to-Day Operations.  "The most important opinions are those of our swimmers and their parents - their satisfaction is why we're here and the success of our program."  Julia is a graduate of St. John's College, has her degree from McGill University, and is a former competitive swimmer and entrepreneur.  She is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music in London, UK, where she has earned her Masters Degree in Opera Performance.  

Nita Surette is the Brave Waves Mom and loves to teach.  A 30-year teaching professional, she has taught in Toronto, New York, Orange County California and here in Brantford.  She is passionate about delivering the best program and best value in swim instruction anywhere.  When not at the Brave Waves pool, Nita is the Student Success Teacher at Assumption College, Brantford.

Joining our leadership team every season are approximately 30 outstanding student leaders and instructors from the College, University and later high school levels. All have passed a rigorous screening and training process, and come with certifications as Life Guards, advanced competitive swim experience, or both, plus excellent backgrounds in instruction.  All have a tremendous passion for kids, teaching and swim.  Check our Testimonials section for comments as well as our Facebook ratings.  Best in class - that's who we hire.
